This species is distinguished by the following characters: Vertebrae 69 (11 + 58); D 61; P 22 (17 + 3 rud. + 2); C 7 (6 + 1); head 18.7% in SL; ante anal distance 31% in SL; horizontal mouth; simple teeth 19-22 rows; lower lobe of pectoral fin (externally) isolated (does not connect with the upper lobe); dorsal fin above pectoral fin base; eye diameter 23.8% in HL ; entirely pale skin, black peritoneum (Ref. 83988).
Caught in midwater at a horizon of 423 m over a depth of 1150 m (Ref. 83988).
