The species is distinguished by the following set of characters: maxilla long (9.1%–9.9% SL); palatine with 1-2 rows of small conical teeth; no parasphenoid teeth; no longitudinal striae on posterior side of body scales and melanophores scattered on first to ninth pectoral-fin rays from uppermost ray (Ref. 127746)
