Rivulidae (Rivulines) > Cynolebiinae
Etymology: Amatolebias: Named for Luis H. Amato (for his important contribution to the knowledge of the Rivulidae diversity of Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil in Rio Grande do Sul); his last name and from the Greek 'lebias' (meaning small fish, commonly used to compose generic names of cyprinodontiform fishes); wichi: Named for the Wichi indigenous people who inhabited in several settlements very close to the type locality (Ref. 128060).
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecologia
; Água doce bentopelágico. Tropical
South America: Argentina (Bermejo river drainage, Parana river basin)
Tamanho / Peso / Idade
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 5.2 cm SL macho/indeterminado; (Ref. 128060)
Known only from its type locality, a seasonal paleochannel from the Bermejo River basin (Parana River basin). The habitat is highly impacted by human activities since it is surrounded by mostly soybean plantations. Also, presence of domestic cattle in this area is evident which alters the pond bottom structure (Ref. 128060).
