It is a medium-sized whitefish (standard length at 3 years: range = 188-223 mm, mean = 211 mm) with light pigmentation on the pectoral and pelvic fins and moderate pigmentation on the anal, caudal, adipose, dorsal fins, and body. The flanks above the lateral line exhibit pale green to pale olive-brown coloration, with a moderate number of small pigmented dots on the scales. This species has a slender, elongated body and a mostly elongated caudal peduncle (caudal peduncle depth: 7.1-8.6% SL, mean = 7.7%; caudal peduncle length: 11.5-14.1% SL, mean = 12.6%). The snout tip is fleshy, round, and typically angled at 40-50° to the body axis anterior of the eye. The species also has large eyes (eye diameter: 22.2-27.1% HL, mean = 23.9%) and numerous long gill rakers (longest gill raker: 10.6-15.8% HL, mean = 13%; total gill raker number: 33-40).
