Etymology: Cyphocharax: Greek, kyphos = curved, humpback + Greek, charax = a marine fish without identification (Ref. 45335); orion: 'orion' (Greek), i.e. which means heaven light, refers to the Greek mythology huntsman placed in the night sky as the constellation Orion. It contains the Orion's Belt formed by three bright blue supergiants, and named after it in allusion to the three major southern Amazonian rivers Madeira, Aripuana, and Tapajos. A noun in apposition (Ref. 132470).
