Etymology: Paracyprichromis: Greek, para = the side of + Greek, Cypris = the other name of Aphrodite, proceeding from Kypris = Cyprus, Greek, kyprinos = carp + Greek, chromis = a kis of fish perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335).

Gregarious, form schools of several hundreds of fish. Feed on zooplankton that are present in the open water column above the rocky substrate (Ref. 7343). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 86760).
Larvae of up to 1.88 cm TL are mouthbrooded by female parents ranging from 8.3 to 10.0 cm SL (Ref. 86760).
