Etymology: Aphyosemion: Greek, aphye, -es, sardine, anchovy + Greek, semeion = mark, signal (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Franz Werner was an American aquarist and killifish keeper from Detroit. He was described in the etymology as the ‘late’ Franz Werner, ‘modern amateur student of rivulins’ and an ‘eminent American killifish fancier’. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
