Short description Chiavi di identificazione | Morfologia | Morfometria

Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 14 - 15; Raggi anali molli: 16 - 18. Devario pathirana differs from all its congeners by the combination of the following characters: body consisting of 8-9 dark, irregular bars between pectoral-fin origin and caudal-peduncle origin; absence of P+1 and P-1 stripes; body depth 30-33 %SL; snout length less than eye diameter; 14-15 predorsal scales; dorsal fin with 11½-12½ branched rays; anal fin with 14½ branched rays; a blunt, knob-like process on 1st infraorbital; presence of danionin notch; origin of dorsal fin to hypural distance when carried forward reaching middle of eye; pectoral fin, when adpressed, just reaching origin of pelvic fin (Ref. 118056).

Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

Occurs in still pools to swift flowing streams with pebble or boulder substrates, seldom over sand. Has not been found in silted rivulets flowing into mainstream. More sedentary than D. malabaricus. Forms groups of 3-5 individuals slowly moving near the surface. Probably feeds on insects. Aquarium fish exporters voluntarily refrained from collecting this species until it was better understood and bred commercially. Collected in moderate numbers.

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00977 (0.00422 - 0.02262), b=3.04 (2.84 - 3.24), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.40 se; based on food items.
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Alto, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione meno di 15 mesi (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
