Etymology: Rexea: Latin, rex, rego = kingalisae: Named for ORSTOM's research vessel 'Alis', based in New Caledonia.
Eponymy: ‘Alis’ is the name of a ship used by the Institut de Recherche pour la Dévelopement to research off the coast of New Caledonia. The ship is, in turn, named after a local wind. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Spine dorsali (totale) : 20; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 13; Spine anali: 2; Raggi anali molli: 12. Body and head metallic silver; darker dorsally. Pupil silvery with an elongated, dusky blotch above and below the iris. A dark blotch, equal in size to orbit length on the operculum.
