Etymology: Myoglanis: Greek, myos = muscle, and also, mouse + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish (Ref. 45335);  koepckei: Named in honor of Hans-Wilhelm Koepcke, who started and was the first curator of the ichthyological collections of the Museo de Historia Natural, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima (Ref. 38033).

臀鰭軟條: 25 - 28; 脊椎骨: 47. Pectoral fin with 8 branched rays; pelvic fin originating posterior to last dorsal fin ray ; maxillary barbel short, reaching base or middle portion of pectoral fin (Ref. 38033).
胸鰭有 8個分支條; 開始的腹鰭在最後的背鰭鰭條後面 ; 上頜骨觸鬚短, 達到基底或胸鰭的中央部分。 (參考文獻 38033)
