Etymology: Myoglanis: Greek, myos = muscle, and also, mouse + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish (Ref. 45335); koepckei: Named in honor of Hans-Wilhelm Koepcke, who started and was the first curator of the ichthyological collections of the Museo de Historia Natural, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima (Ref. 38033).

شعاع نرم باله مخرجي: 25 - 28; مهره ها: 47. Pectoral fin with 8 branched rays; pelvic fin originating posterior to last dorsal fin ray ; maxillary barbel short, reaching base or middle portion of pectoral fin (Ref. 38033).
Collected from a small stream, with black water and sandy bottom covered with debris (Ref. 38033).
